Monday 21 August At Sea

According to the temperature on our TV screen it is still 29 degrees this morning at 7 am! It appears the temperature has not altered in 72 hours! It is warm and humid with the wind a little less strong than yesterday. The sea is around 2 metres and while still some movement it is comfortable walking around the ship.

We are heading south south west at 18 knots and well into the Caribbean Sea on our way to the Panama Canal. We are due to enter the canal around 6 am tomorrow morning. The fee for the ship to travel through the canal is around $600,000!

After our gym walk this afternoon as we are cooling off on our balcony a storm is developing ahead. There is lightning in the distance followed by thunder. It becomes very dark and and heavy rain starts to fall. Surprisingly there is not much change to the wind strength. The forecast for tomorrow is rain while we go through the canal. While it might be a shame if it rains, Panama has been in drought, and has reduced the amount of traffic through the canal in case they run down the amount of water in the lake to a dangerous low level.
