We left Greenock last night and sailed along the Firth of Clyde towards the Irish Sea passing the Isle of Man along the way. It was quite windy during the night but we did not feel much ship movement. We woke early around 6.30 and it was 15 degrees, no wind, smooth seas and drizzle with poor visibility. We had slowed down and now we are in fog. The ship’s fog horn was going off at regular intervals.
By the time we had complete our gym and went to breakfast at 9.15 the fog was starting to lift. We were able to increase our speed. By 11 am the fog had gone, though you could see the fog bank off in the distance. It is overcast with little wind and flat seas.
After lunch, the mist, drizzle, fog comes back and temperature drops to 14. At three o’clock we start sounding our foghorn again. A lovely day cruising the Irish Sea. At least we can watch the golf live and if the weather there is anything like the weather at the cricket, there will be little chance of play.
By 6 pm the fog and rain has passed but there is a cold wind blowing, it is 15 degrees.
