Friday 18 August At Sea

We sailed out of NY late yesterday afternoon. We had the NY skyline on our port side which meant we could watch from the comfort of our balcony, while Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty was on our starboard. As we got nearer to the Statue of Liberty we went up on deck 14 to take some photos. The weather was cloudy but 24 degrees. As we left NY and headed into the North Atlantic the wind picked up as did the sea.

We both had a good nights sleep not surprising after the amount of walking we have done over the last two days. At 7.30 am the temperature is 26, strong head winds and a three to four metre swell. We feel some movement in the cabin, but it is quite pronounced at the front and mid ships. Our aft cabin is great. At 10 am it is 28 degrees as we continue to sail along the east coast of the USA.

By lunch time there is significant movement as the swell and wind is coming in off our starboard forward side making the ship move from side to side and up and down. It became quite tricky maintaining a rhythm on the treadmills.
