Saturday 19 August At Sea

Wow! Just on 10 pm last night we got hit by a sudden storm. The wind dramatically increased to what seemed gale force, the cabin was creaking, the ship rocking, thunder and lightning and sheets of rain. I looked out of our window and there was a flash of lightning and sheets of rain flying past horizontally. After about five minutes it was all over! The ship rocked a bit and a lot of creaking in the cabin but we both slept well. This morning the wind and sea have died down a bit, but the sea is still up around 3 metres and the wind steady at around 20 kms per hour

We continue on through the North Atlantic and this morning we are off Florida heading towards the Caribbean. It is hurricane season but so far no dangerous weather patterns have developed. Once we pass through the Panama Canal we should be clear of those weather systems. This morning’s temperature was 29 degrees. It has been 29 degrees all day and the wind has been a steady 20 kmph.
